At minimum, competitors must have the following:
Eye and ear protection.
A pistol, revolver, or PCC.
Two magazines or one speed loader.
A case or holster.
If a participant only has one magazine, accommodations can be made during the match to facilitate the mandatory reload requirement.
Holster rules are as follows, per ASI rules 2.2.1 through 2.2.3.
A holster must cover the firearm’s trigger guard and securely hold the firearm in place.
Holsters shall allow the shooter to draw and holster the firearm WITHOUT pointing the barrel at any part of themselves or other people.
Shoulder holsters, small-of-the-back holsters, and cross draw rigs are prohibited. Waist packs, and purse holsters may not be worn, but may be used to store a cased firearm.
It is strongly recommended, but not required, to bring a holster which does not close on itself, and does not require the use of the shooter's off-hand to hold it open while re-holstering.
ASI matches operate as a cold range, which means all firearms are to remain unloaded and bagged or holstered, except at the direction of a Range Officer.
"Loaded" means live ammunition, laser bullets, dummy rounds, sighting tools, or any foreign object anywhere inside the gun, except for chamber flags.
If you arrive with a loaded firearm, find an ASI Range Officer, and they will help you safely unload before the match. Do not load or unload your gun inside your vehicle.
Competitors may arrive at the range with an unloaded and holstered, bagged, or cased gun.
If you arrive with a loaded gun, find an ASI range officer to help you safely unload before the match.
Guns may not leave the holster, bag, or case except in designated safe areas, or at the direction of a range officer.
Designated safe areas are indicated by a sign. If you are unable to locate a safe area, ask any ASI range officer.
No ammunition is permitted in designated safe areas whatsoever.
No loaded guns are permitted at ASI matches, except at the direction of a range officer.
"Loaded" includes live ammunition, laser bullets, dummy rounds, or sighting tools anywhere inside the gun.
Failure to comply with any of these rules may result in a match disqualification.
