What is practical shooting?

Practical shooting is also commonly referred to as dynamic or action shooting. Competitors use a firearm, usually a pistol, to score as many points as possible in the shortest amount of time. Competitors take turns shooting courses of fire, commonly known as "stages", which are composed of arrays of targets, and a variety of shooting positions. All stages are different, which gives competitors varying degrees of freedom to solve the stage as they see fit.

New to practical shooting?

Shoot a match at our ASI program. Come with the knowledge and experience you have, and the equipment you already own. Action Shooting International is a great introduction to practical shooting, with a low barrier for entry in terms of required experience and equipment.
